This project is a food adoption program whereby volunteers collects food items from neighborhoods, pack the food items into hampers and deliver it to the beneficiaries under the Public Assistance Scheme.

Objectives of this project:

Bring cheer and relief to the less fortunate in Singapore during the Christmas season;
Inculcate the spirit of community service among members of The Boys’ Brigade; and
Promote the spirit of caring and sharing among Singaporeans.

We would be needing 10 people to help out for the following external publicity and external collection. Sign up now!

Youth Vibes

Youth Vibes is a youth conference organised by the NUS volunteer network to increase awareness about service and to promote volunteerism among youth in Singapore. Its primary objectives are to provide a platform and network for youths

1. To share and benefit through collective intelligence

2. To promote creativity, initiatives and social responsibility

3. To bond with others with common passion

4. To define their generation

To facilitate this, the conference has been divided into two halves. The morning half is designed to raise awareness, with speeches by a famous philanthropist and experienced volunteers, interactive workshop and information sessions about the various facets of volunteerism and how they address the problems facing society, and how they develop an individual. This section culminates in a speech by another lecturer or student experienced in social work highlighting the limitations in the current system and emphasising the need for newer, innovative ideas.

The second half is a focus group discussion session which is designed to encourage the participants to brainstorm the innovative ideas to solve the various issues faced by volunteerism. The objective of the discussion and brainstorming would be to come up with a concrete volunteering solution to a problem such as child abuse, old age neglect or handicapped rights, with an innovative twist to overcome existing limitations. This way, participants would have to think deeply about the problem and reach a consensus, and also have to find a way to really solve the issue.

This conference aims to help both prospective and experienced volunteers to help discover what section of society they really want to help, which issue needs redressal and to learn how they would fit into the big picture. Ultimately, the participants would learn how to make a difference, and be able to analyse how their actions do help others.

Charity Walk at Sadeaf

Come join SADeaf's Charity Walk on 30th JULY 2011!

Before the event, a pledge card will be given to participants to help raise funds for SADeaf to continue to provide essential services to the Deaf Community.

Pledge cards must only be asked from your friends and family members to make donations. The cards are not used for street collection. Once your card has more than you dont have to pay the Registration fee below.

Registration fee : $20 Only IF unable to raise $20 and above on pledge card OR just want to go for the event w/o getting pledge card

A Walkathon T-Shirt and Goodie Bag will be given for this event! (First come first serve on that day)

Objective:

In line with SADeaf's mission to assist the Deaf to achieve a better quality of life, integrate and contribute to society, we have been providing a range of services to the 5,600 clients we have. These services include education, tuition, discount for purchase of hearing aids, guidance and counseling, job support, interpretation, social care and financial assistance to the needy.

With our annual operating expenses of about $2.4 million and our aspiration to reach out and serve more people in need in the Deaf Community, we will organize a “Charity Walk for the Deaf”. The target is to raise $180,000.

Recently added NOTES:
-Wondered if you can just take pledge cards w/o going for the walk? YES YOU CAN! ( You can help by raising fund with the pledge card )
-Hearing Impaired Students do not have to pay registration fee to join the walk and can still help out with the pledge card.
-After collection, remember to bring the pledge card and money along to the event to return it, for those who are not going for the event do return the card before the event.

Pass The Fast

Pass the Fast was initiated by Compassionate Youths in Action (CYA) and this event aims to raise awareness towards the issue of poverty. Pass the Fast is basically an event on 31st May whereby pledgers are encouraged to give up something - so seemingly vital to their daily functioning such as handphones, and that the absence of a certain something will directly affect or result in numerous inconveniences. Do accept this invitation to take part in the 8 hour fast (from anything, ranging from food to technology) in a bid to spread the word that we are in a position to fight poverty!

We had our Instructor's camp this holidays and the chosen theme was named Dreamworkz! (:

Our campers had to go through this dreamy camp where they had "obstacles" (games) that they faced though the camp! However as dreamers, they fighted for the best in the camp and with the help of the defenders (GLs) they managed to end this nightmare that became a sweet dream afterall! :D

Having Sign Language Classes and Camps to help improve our member's Sign Language, members have the opportunity to do Song Signing and Sign Language Drama performances in both school and external events. We are pleased to inform that the audition for HI!Lights will be removed and the deadline will be extended to 13^th April 2011! However, performers signed up for the concert will be required to attend a briefing on the 14th April 2011.

CDAC @ Redhill Performance

The former Redhill Student Service Centre has been converted into a full service centre and renamed as CDAC@ Redhill. The centre is jointly set up by the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) and the Central Singapore Community Development Council.

The CDAC@ Redhill aims to reach out and serve its three main target groups, namely students, workers and families. In order to create greater awareness of our programmes and services for the residents of Radin Mas and Bukit Merah, , CDAC@ Redhill Management Committee plans to organise an official opening event.

The event will be held on Sunday, 17th April from 9am to 1pm.

Hello everyone!

Hi! Club instructor camp would be taking place soon and we would like everyone to participant for this upcoming camp. It would be great chance to bond with our fellow club members, a chance to be the next batch instructor as well as an opportunity to SIGN! :D Most importantly is we would all come together as a club to have fun!

Camp would be on the 8th of April(Friday) till 10th of April(Sunday). The fee for this camp will be $15. Please reply if your instructors if you are attending the camp. To register for camp, firstly, register via google form HERE by Wednesday, 16th March, 2359. Also, fill up the indemnity form attached in your email, sent by your instructors. Please have it printed, filled and signed. Do set a date between Sunday 13th March to Wednesday 23rd March to pass your instructor the form and money!

Hi!Club is now having our very own fund raising event and we are asking YOU to be part of it! (:

HiLights Concert 2011 involves dance groups from various external organizations, including NP's performing group, possibly NRA, D3, Barracuda etc.

Want to do something more meaningful other than donating to the needy families of the deaf community? Join us by being part of this performance! You will not only do the usual song signings that involves signings and gestures, but also implement dance into the performance! It will be a refreshing and new experience for all! (:

The auditions will be held on the 14th and 15th of April. Depending on your own availability, we will slot you into the slots of your preference. (: Sounds good eh?

If you are joining in groups, we need a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 6 people in each group. (:

You can also join individually, but we will have to randomly put you all into groups for the audition! [ but it’s going to be fun knowing more people and exchanging knowledge about singing! (: ]

What we will be looking out for:

- Accuracy

2. The gestures you use:
- Creativity
- Expressiveness
- Relativity

Grandioso, a music term which means “grandly". This year, NPVoices' is having their annual concert series at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Campus 3 Lee Foundation Theatre, in collaboration to other CCA groups.

The event would be taking place on the 26th of March, and Hi! Club has been invited to do a performance for the event.

For this coming performance, we are expected to put up a performance of high standards and thus a higher level of commitment would be needed. Ee Lin: It was fun teaching the campers sign language. It reminds me of how I used to be like them, clueless about sign language but still very keen to learn. Everyone should try and take part toooo! Hi!club rocks! :D

Kenji: There was super lots of enthu people. It was fun when you teach with other hi!clubbers, some funny jokers like darren, *burp*, okay thats zhixiong. continuing on, fierce ivy, fun people eelin & hazry. Hi!Club FTW.

Joel: I was very shy at first, but after a while, I came out of my comfort zone. Great experience teaching with great people like Kenji, Eelin and Hazry. We could be a good team together, AWESOME! (Y)

Hazry: "Hi, My name is Hazry and my sign name is "IJI". Because that is what my family calls me, iji. :D Now people, we are spilting you all into two groups.'' Opps, too enthusiastic. Hahaha, well, Red camp was really fun.

Ngee Ann Poly's Red Camp would be taking place 22- 24 November. Throughout the three days, Hi Club has been invited to teach Sign Language to the participants of Red Camp, in a fun and interactive manner. We would most properly be teaching basic sign language, such as alphabets and sign names, to about a group of 25 secondary school students per session. Each session would last about 20mins. We would be doing some planning with regards to the lessons after you have signed up.

Charity Walk for the Deaf

Do you feel like you're wasting your holidays away? Are you really bored at home with nothing to do? :) Make this holiday a meaningful one by taking part in the Charity Walk for the Deaf organised by Singapore Association for the Deaf. The event is a major effort of SADeaf to raise funds to support essential service for 5,500 deaf clients, do extend your kindness to those in need :)

Hello everyone! The long awaited Hi! Club Instructor Camp 2010 is finally here! This camp would serve as a platform for us to choose future instructors, bond with your club mates, learn from one another and of course to have fun! Don't be hesitant on joining the camp because lots of fun and excitement has been planned for you. Come and you will know, surprises awaits you!

Camp Dates: 11-13 Oct
Starting Time: 10am
Ending Time: 5pm
Camp fee: $15 (worth it! 3days of food is provided)

To Sign up for the camp please follow the steps as mentioned below

1. Check your email, an indemnity form and some details of the camp should have been forwarded to you from your instructor.
2. Reply to the email and confirm your attendance for camp by 24th Aug, at the same time reply your instructors to confirm your continuation and advancement in Hi! Club
3. Once you have confirmed your attendance for the camp, download the indemnity form
4. Print the indemnity form
5. Fill in all information required from the form
6. Submit your indemnity form to your instructor along with $15 for camp fee, dates for collection for the indemnity forms would be arranged by your instructors
